Oxford/Reading Training Sub-Hub

NEW for 2025/26 GLF: Teacher Training launch a new training sub-hub at Aureus School in Didcot, Oxfordshire

The new Oxford and Reading sub-hub offers training in both secondary and primary phases and is designed to meet the teacher-training and recruitment needs of the Trust’s schools, across the region.

Covering Reading, Abingdon, Didcot, Oxford, Kidlington, Bicester, Banbury, and surrounding rural areas, the sub-hub can offer trainees placements at both GLF Schools, as well as other partner schools.

Based at GLF member Aureus School in Didcot, the Sub-Hub will be co-led by Highdown School in Reading, which is also part of the GLF Trust.

The sub-hub launched in September 2025 with a mixed cohort of secondary and primary trainee teachers, who will benefit from local training on a Friday at the impressive facilities provided by Aureus School, as well as placements within local schools Mon-Thurs. 

In hosting the new sub-hub at Aureus School, Headteacher Kirsty Rogers, embodies GLFs commitment to excellence and to developing both students and future educators. Aureus School, as well as their training partners Highdown School, are creating an environment where excellent teachers can be trained to fulfil the staffing and education needs of the Reading/Oxfordshire corridor. 

Trainees can benefit from excellent transport links, modern and accessible training facilities and proximity to shops and services.

Facilities: Training Room N1.10 (this is situated on the first floor and can be accessed via a lift if for anyone unable to use the stairs. Key to be provided on request)

Carparking: Plenty of onsite parking available. 

Transport: Didcot station is approx. 1.5 miles away, but the walk is uphill so not suitable for everyone. Buses stop outside the school at 'Great Western Park'. 

Other: There is a small Asda opposite the school should you require snacks/food.
