Where we work

Trainee Teachers spend 80% of their week at their placement school, learning on the job, with 20% spent training with our Teacher Training specialists to learn the core and subject theory and ensure they know the best bets in the classroom.

Trainees select one placement school as their main placement, with a six-week second placement at an alternative school.

To see all our training placements on offer, visit our Teacher Training Career site, which signposts all our school vacancies- HERE. Early applications are more likely to result in the placement school you want to train in.

Core training is held once a week and is approximately 50% face-to-face and 50% online in your phases and subject groups.

We offer a range of training hubs.

Surrey Training Hub

Based at The Beacon School in Banstead, the Surrey training hub has been home to GLF Teacher Training for the past six years.

With excellent conferencing facilities and theatre-style seating for 60 trained teachers, the venue is ideally located to serve trainees whose placements are in or around Surrey and the South M25/M23 region, as well as West Sussex.

The venue offers a mix of secondary and primary trainee placements, in a range of subjects.

The Beacon is also home to the GLF Teacher Training team, making it convenient for trainees to check in with colleagues for welfare and other requests.
